Join Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources and the Sarasota County Historical Commission for a special dedication ceremony honoring The Meadows—a landmark development that helped shape Sarasota County’s modern landscape.First approved in 1974 as one of the county’s earliest Developments of Regional Impact (DRI), The Meadows became a model for community planning, environmental stewardship and vibrant residential living. The new historical marker recognizes this legacy and the neighborhood’s continued evolution into a thriving, resident-driven community.
Remarks will be given by Sarasota County Commissioner Teresa Mast; Dr. Renee Di Pilato, director of Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources; and Dr. Mark Pienkos, chair of the Sarasota County Historical Commission. Frances Rippcondi, general manager of The Meadows Community Association, will offer reflections on behalf of the community.
The ceremony concludes with the unveiling of the marker and an invitation to enjoy refreshments.
This event is free and open to the public.
