The Manor House
Set beside the River Coln, The Garden at the Manor House has been lovingly created and refined over the past 33 years by the current owners. This five-acre garden combines formal design with informal charm. At the front of the house lies a formal garden with a parterre, herbaceous borders, structured yew hedges and cascading wisteria. A pergola along the old drive is draped with roses, clematis, honeysuckle and vines, providing both fragrance and architectural beauty.
Beyond the drive, a tranquil pond and rill flow toward the river, while the west of the garden opens into a more relaxed, naturalistic landscape with a mix of shrubs and trees, some planted decades ago. A productive walled garden and greenhouse supply the house with fruit, vegetables and cut flowers.
The Head Gardener will lead this insightful and inspiring tour.
Pindrup Farm
Designed by renowned landscape designer Tom Stuart-Smith between 2014 and 2019, Pindrup Farm is a four-acre garden set in 230 acres of organic farmland on the banks of the River Coln. It surrounds an 18th-century farmhouse and offers a masterclass in modern perennial planting.
Herbaceous borders near the house feature Tom’s signature palette - Amsonia, Euphorbia, Phlox, Sanguisorba, Veronicastrum and Thalictrum - interwoven with grasses like Molinia and Miscanthus for long-lasting seasonal interest. A terrace filled with fragrant roses leads to the pool garden, where sculptural box balls mimic natural rock formations amid naturalistic planting.
In the walled garden, a striking Prairie Garden offers winding paths through bold drifts of perennials and grasses. The display begins with early spring bulbs and extends into late summer with Asters, Echinacea, Rudbeckia, Eupatorium and more. Planting is left through winter for dramatic texture and seed-heads.
This expertly guided tours includes arrival and afternoon refreshments, and a light buffet lunch.
