Quietly, trees grow into and through our lives. From childhood adventures, to peaceful retreats, to the mystery of the deepwoods, trees are there through all our ages. Many of us have our own special, individual trees or beloved woodlands. Drawing on many sources and media, this workshop will explore our personal and creative relationships with trees. Starting with traditional stories, we'll take time to talk, to share our own stories, to listen and draw and write and grow those individual tree stories into a communal, ceremonial forestWorkshop leader: Gordon MacLellan is a storyteller, poet, artist and puppeteer. As Creeping Toad, his work encourages people to explore their relationships with the world around them. The author of Sacred Animals, Waiting for the Snow and Baba Yaga: tales of an old witch, Gordon also creates celebrations with community groups including Midsummer Sunrise at the Crawick Multiverse in 2024, the processional celebrations of Nairn Book and Arts Festival (2022 to 2026) and Lighting the Woods in Buxton in 2026
