50k for 50 years. Run the Peak District from West to East celebrating the 50th anniversary of Matlock AC.
Following the success of last year’s ‘Peaky Plod’, which saw a merry band of MACs run the 100km length of the Peak District over two days, we now have a second edition confirmed!
This year, to celebrate Matlock AC in its 50th year, we are pleased to announce plans for the MAC 50km for 50 years!
On Saturday 20th June, we would love to have as many MACs; past, present and friends of the club join us for a celebratory run from the West to the East of the Peak District, finishing in Matlock for food and drinks!
Starting in Rushton Spencer near Leek, the route will head across trails and hills, hitting popular spots such as Lud’s Church and The Roaches. The route continues east towards Monyash for the traditional stop at Tagg Lane Dairy before heading on to Lathkill Dale and Youlgreave. Robin Hood’s Stride and Winster are next, with the route heading to Bonsall before we arrive at sunny Matlock, where beers and snacks will await!

With plenty of meeting points along the way via public transport, we’d love to have as many take part as possible, whether you want to do the whole things or join us along the route. As with the Peaky Plod last year, we’ll be sharing our live location so you can join at any time during the day.
As per last year this is a social running adventure! We will plod along staying together, have frequent stops, aim to locate an ice cream van or two and we might even be able to persuade Cherry to crew again!
We will organise getting everyone to the start in the morning (exact start time TBC) for those doing the full distance and get a spot booked for post run nourishment nearer the time, once we have numbers.
