About this Event
Cambrian Players is pleased to present The Last Wife by Kate Henning and directed by Sheena Albanese.
Get ready for a completely new take on the last wife of Henry VIII, Katherine (Kate) Parr. In Kate Hennig’s modern retelling, we meet smart and independent-minded Kate as her second husband is dying and her lover is patiently waiting in the wings, but before her new life can begin, the most powerful man in the realm takes a sudden interest. What follows is a dangerous game of politics and power as Kate tries to look after Henry’s children and advance her own ideas, including a woman’s right to rule, while trying to avoid an early grave.
Part political thriller, part family drama, and definitely witty and stylish, Hennig vividly captures powerful people on the brink and shines a modern light on an old tale.
