The Kind of New Series is delighted to present BUCK MOON QUARTET in their next matinee performance at The Studio in the Lexicon, Dun Laoghaire.
You can excpect to hear a selection of classic jazz standards, focusing mainly on the works of female jazz vocalists and some bossa nova tunes. Buck Moon Quartet are delighted to be the second act in The Kind of New in The Afternoon series.
The band is comprised of professional jazz drummer Dominic Mullen and newly emerging vocalist Niamh Caldwell, guitarist Rory Fleming and bassist Alexnadre Guerra.
Dominic is an active member of the Irish music scene. Since graduating Newpark School of Music in 2009 he has become a first call drummer for many well known artists across a range of genres from Classical to Folk and Jazz. Regularly he plays with many Irish artists such as Nigel Mooney, Hugh Buckley, Phil Robson, Mary Coughlan, Vladimir, Niamh Regan and has shared the stage and recorded with The National Concert Orchestra, Andrea Corr, Imelda May, Sharon Shannon, Liam Ó Maonlaí, Mundy and Kila. He is also often called upon to work with touring International musicians such as Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones), Lianne Carol, Georgie Fame, Taylor Eigsti, Jim Mullen and Jean Toussaint.
Alexandre Guerra is an up-and-coming bass player on the Irish music scene. Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, he began his career at 20, playing with jazz, blues, and pop bands in various venues and events. He studied under renowned Brazilian musicians like Itiberê Zwarg and Bernardo Ramos, refining his skills in composition, improvisation, and bass performance. Based in Dublin since 2021, Alexandre is excited to explore new musical opportunities and partnerships.
Rory Gill is a guitarist and bassist currently based in County Fermanagh.Rory I has been playing for around 15 years now, growing up playing in a variety of bands around Northern Ireland. Rory has since studied Jazz and Contemporary Music at DCU graduating in 2023. He enjoys playing the music of many genres but has mainly focused on Jazz, Folk, Blues and free improvisation.
Niamh is a singer-songwriter hailing from Galway. Self taught in her craft, her influences range from jazz, neo-soul, progressive and everything in between. She has played at many festivals and venues in Ireland including headlining Electric Picnic's 'Hazelwood' Stage, Niamh has just released her first single 'Light' under the name NEEV and is working on releasing her very first EP.
