About this Event
The Jupiter Troupe are a high-energy soul, rock, funk, and pop- driven group guaranteed to have crowds dancing from start tofinish. After forming a highschool brotherhood and venturing off to college, group members Alister Bent, Dylan Oliveira, Sebastian Sayavedra, and Derek Sehult officially formed the group when they reunited to record their first record, Down to Earth. Inspired by the sounds of Daft Punk, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and RHCP the group composed a grandiose album based on years of meticulous composition. Down to Earth was mixed by Vance Powell at Sputnik Sound in Nashville, a trip which left a lasting mark on the band. Since then the Troupe has stayed active on the South Florida and Gainesville circuits. They are currently working on their sophomore record which is slated for a 2024release.
Alister Bent (Vocals, Keys, Guitar)
Born and raised in Broward County, FL and of Jamaican heritage, Bent began
songwriting at the age of 12. When he’s not busy being the lead vocalist and
chief lyricist of the Troupe, Alister spends his time crafting his skills in recording,
mix engineering, and producing records. Well versed in the sounds of Marvin
Gaye, Robert Johnson, Nile Rodgers, Aaliyah, and Toots & The Maytals, he is
definitely the type of friend you trust with the AUX cord at your party. In
addition to vocals, Bent has spent countless hours refining his talents on guitar,
bass, and keyboards. After years away from home living in Boston and New
York, Bent moved back to South FL to build out the Troupe’s studio, focus on
new music and work on live performances.
Dylan Oliveira (Bass)
Born in São Paulo, Brazil and named after Bob Dylan, Oliveira began cultivating
a fondness for music from a very early age. As a grandchild of music teachers,
he started playing piano at the age of eight but wasn’t hooked until finding the
guitar at fourteen. Oliveira began to write music with high school friends
Sayavedra and Bent until eventually forming the Jupiter Troupe. Inspired by
Radiohead, RHCP, Bob Dylan, Hendrix, and Brazilian artists like Caetano Veloso
and Gilberto Gil, Oliveira is also a member of South Florida rock band Solar
Reef, and composes his own music under the name Estudio George.
Derek Seheult (Drums)
Derek Seheult, the time-keeper of the Jupiter Troupe, fell in love with
percussion from the moment he touched his first conga at 5 years old. At an
early age, he was exposed to the genres of Afro-Cuban jazz, salsa, reggae, &
classic rock. Rhythm is simply embedded in his DNA. This can be heard and
more importantly felt in the way he effortlessly carries the cadence of any song
he plays to. Derek launched his musical career performing for reggae bands
around Florida & California, opening up for artists such as Long Beach Dub
Allstars & Passafire. In his spare time he is either performing for Venezuelan-
based rock artist Mario Viloria or providing drum lessons to his students. His
main drum influences are Stewart Copeland, Benny Greb & Robert “Sput”
Searight.
Sebastian “Tati” Sayavedra (Lead Guitar)
Chilean native of Argentine descent, Sebastian grew up listening to the sounds
of classic rock that transformed music into what it is today. His father, Oscar,
was a pioneer in the Argentine rock n’ roll movement that dominated the 70s-
80s, and influenced Sebastian’s musical tastes from an early age. Inspired by
the sounds of Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Gondwana, Sebastian
picked up the guitar at the age of 10 and has been improving his craft for
almost 20 years. His nickname “Tati” was coined from his Chilean nickname
“Tatian” (based on Sebas-tain). Tati has recorded guitars on several other
records including: Gondwana, Estudio George, Tamayo Band, and Matcha.
