The Journey – A Culinary & Artistic Experience
Hosted by APULULU Kitchen in collaboration with Beyloved Pairings, this casual yet elegant evening celebrates culture, creativity, and connection through food, art, and music.
The Journey explores the creative paths of Chef Taimi Carrero and visual artist Raciel Gómez, a couple whose cuisine and artwork share the same heartbeat. Each course represents a chapter of their journey from Cuba to the United States through flavors inspired by Cuban, Spanish, Mexican, and American influences.
The evening is thoughtfully paired with curated cider and Grand Central Brewhouse Beer selections by Joanne Mumbey of BeyLoved Pairings, recently honored on Wine Enthusiast’s prestigious Future 40 list.
Guests will also enjoy live music, alongside an art exhibition featuring Raciel’s newest works, thoughtfully woven into the evening’s design.
A portion of proceeds will benefit The Kind Mouse, a local nonprofit feeding children facing chronic hunger and food insecurity.

The Story Behind The Menu:
Each dish in this tasting menu tells a story — our story. The Journey traces our path from the fields of Cuba to our new home in the United States, blending memories, roots, and flavors from every step along the way. The Abuelita’s Polenta, honors the comfort food of our Cuban countryside, the flavors that began it all. With Cochinita Pibil, we arrive in Yucatán, where Mexico’s native traditions welcomed us with warmth and spice. The main course, Diverse Heart, unites two cultures— Spanish and American — through a harmonious fusion of flavors and techniques. Finally, La Viña de San Sebastián Cheesecake brings us back to our origins, celebrating Spanish tradition with a romantic Caribbean touch of guava and rose.
