About this Event
Just beyond London's old Roman Wall lies one of the City’s most significant historic sites – the UK's oldest Jewish cemetery.
On this walk with The Jewish Square Mile Foundation, you'll discover the story of London's original Jewish community. They arrived here shortly after William the Conqueror took the throne in 1066 and established a vibrant community in the City of London before being expelled by Edward I in 1290.
The walk covers the site of the medieval Jewish cemetery and the old Jewish quarter near the Guildhall, where the community is still remembered in the street names today. Along the way, you'll hear about daily life in medieval times, bringing the past to life.
The Jewish Square Mile is a registered charity.
