About this Event

Join the UAF Arctic and Northern Studies Program for a thought-provoking talk with Linn Mathisen exploring how mining shapes the lives of Indigenous communities.

Drawing on research from South Saepmie (Norway) and Interior Alaska, Mathisen centers Indigenous knowledge and lived experience to examine the environmental, social, and cultural impacts of resource extraction. With a focus on Southern Saami communities, she highlights how history continues to shape land use, rights, and resilience today.

Come be part of the conversation on Indigenous perspectives and the future of sustainable development.
