About this Event
Hello! This is a new trans and queer writing group + bookclub in Manchester. We're based in The Whitworth Gallery and we run from 6:30-8:30pm. The idea is for writers and booklovers to get the chance to meet, share work and find likeminded people.
The event is always on a Thursday (the dates for the rest of the year are all up on eventbrite.
Both events are very collaborative and I will ask you what your expectations are of the session, encourage feedback and keep the group welcoming to newcomers who might join later.
From 6:30-7:30 will be a writing group, there will be prompts to help get you going or you are welcome to work on a project you are already writing. Either way, this is to make some time and space for regular writing, to meet fellow writers and develop your work.
Refreshment break 5 mins
7:45-8:30 ish (we have the venue until 9 but need to have tidied up before then) we will be discussing the monthly book. If you have not finished the book, please feel free to attend anyway. We will then also choose the next month's book together (I'll usually provide a few of options to choose from)
Check the agenda below for more description of the structure and access.
Tickets for this event are donation based but you can always come for free, please just message me to let me know you're coming. You can also tip me if you have spare cash/would like to make a small donation for my time here: https://ko-fi.com/greyarea
Our May book is The Parable of the Sower- Octavia E Butler
A thought-provoking dystopian novel set in a future America ravaged by climate change and societal collapse. It follows the journey of a young woman who seeks to spread a new vision of hope and survival.
