EXCITING NEWS!!! 📚We’re co-hosting our first ever Book Club with the Great Bay Changemaker Program —and you’re warmly invited to join us.
🗓 Thursday, April 9, 2026 | 5:00–6:30pm
📍 Carey Cottage, Portsmouth
Together, we’ll explore ‘Is a River Alive?’ by Robert Macfarlane, a beautifully written and thought-provoking book that dives into the rights of nature movement and asks a powerful question: Should waterways be viewed as living entities?
Great Bay-Piscataqua Waterkeeper, Melissa Paly (Save the Great Bay-Piscataqua Estuary), will guide this conversation, creating space for curiosity, reflection, and connection. Whether you’ve read the entire book, one section, a few chapters, or simply want to listen and learn, this is a low-pressure, welcoming gathering.
We’re also grateful to Water Street Bookstore, which is offering five copies at 20% off (first-come, first-served). The book is also available as an audiobook, or check your local library.
Bring a friend. Bring your questions. Bring your love for rivers. Let’s come together for an evening of community and conversation about the future of our waterways.
