You're invited to an event 100 years in the making! The historic Government House is opening for four memorable evenings featuring the very best of West Australian culture, cuisine and kindness.
For the first time in their histories, WA Ballet, WA Opera and the WA Jazz Project will collaborate for an evening of stunning entertainment, echoing the music and movement of the 1920s.
Some of Western Australia’s best culinary talent will bring together some of this state’s finest food, wine, cheese and spirits.
Why is this event being held?
On August 27 this year, it will be 100 years to the day since a shocking and tragic incident in the Ballroom of Government House.
A man died after being shot. A woman was charged with his murder – and was later acquitted in a court of law.
An incident which unfolded during a charity ball here at Government House raising funds for Perth’s less fortunate.
A century on, the impact of that moment is still felt, both far away from Western Australia and in the very place which it happened.
The Governor wanted to acknowledge this notable piece of West Australian history – and create some good from it, by holding a Benefit Ball in August this year, that through ticket sales will raise significant funds for deserving and dedicated charities making a real difference in the community.
