The history of art is filled with good guys and bad guys, angels and devils, beautiful things and ugly things. It was bad that the Cathedral of Notre-Dame burned to the ground on April 15 2019. What was good was the worldwide response to restore it. Claude Monet created the most beautiful paintings of gardens and landscapes at his home in Giverny. Michelangelo painted an epic masterpiece in the Sistine Chapel. The Tudors employed some of the greatest court painters but had some of the worst monarchs and one of the best.
