The Good Swap is Toronto's monthly clothing exchange for all genders, all bodies, and all ages. All of the dopamine, none of the dilemma.
About this Event

The Good Swap & Evergreen Brick Works
Together at last!

Join us on Saturday, January 21 from 12pm to 2pm for our first swap at Evergreen Brick Works in the BMO Atrium!
A pre-swap drop is available from 11-11:50am so you can drop and check out their Saturday Farmer's Market!

ABOUT THE GOOD SWAP

The Good Swap exists to help eliminate textile waste in Toronto and champion ethical and sustainable fashion practices.

By swapping instead of shopping (or dumping your clothes in a donation bin), you’re participating in the circular economy, keeping clothing out of landfills, saving money, updating your wardrobe, avoiding unethical fast fashion and resource depletion, and sharing with a community of likeminded people… and sharing feels good.

COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
  • Be kind. Treat everyone with respect and care.
  • Respect boundaries. Give people space.
  • Bring 10 items or fewer. Please respect our item limit.
  • Check your items. No holes, stains, missing parts, or broken pieces. Everything should be clean, folded, and ready to be loved again.
  • Use scent-free soap. Wash items before bringing them.
  • Don’t hoard. Try things on as you go so others can browse items you decide not to keep.
  • Don’t hover. Keep the drop-off table clear and let volunteers place items before looking through them.
  • No dumping. The end-of-life care of your items is your responsibility.
  • Take to wear, not to sell. Please only take what you (or someone you know) will actually use.
  • Keep it simple. Don’t do stuff that makes us write more rules.

ABOUT EVERGREEN BRICK WORKS

Operating on the traditional homelands of the Wendat (Wen-dat) , Haudenosaunee (Ho-den-O-Show-nee), and Anishnaabek (A-Nish-Naw-bek) Confederacies, Evergreen Brick Works is a vibrant public place where people can connect with each other and the nature all around them.
It is located on the historic site of the former Don Valley Brick Works and quarry—the site that made the bricks that built Toronto. In 2010, Evergreen transformed a collection of deteriorating heritage buildings into a global showcase for green design and an award-winning public space. Open year-round, Evergreen Brick Works welcomes more than 500,000 visitors annually to experience its public markets, participate in conferences and events, enjoy outdoor learning and nature play, and explore public art in the heart of Toronto’s ravine system.

ACCESSIBILITY

In the Young Centre and the Centre for Green Cities building, accessibility features include an elevator, accessible single-stall washrooms, automated door openers, and Braille signage in the elevators and conference centre. The accessible washroom is located on the ground floor, with accessible stalls located in the washrooms on each of the five floors.

While the site and park area are accessible for most people, there are some bumps, tracks and pebbles at this old brick factory.

DISCLAIMERS

Swap at your own risk
The swap is a high-traffic event, which increases the chance of germs or pests spreading. We ask that all swappers wash items in scent-free soap before bringing them, and only attend if they are in good health. Please note that we cannot guarantee the condition of items or the outcomes of any swap. Take precautions: wear a mask if you wish, use hand sanitizer, and wash your items once you get home.

Lost or stolen items
We cannot take responsibility for garments donated or swapped, and accept no liability for any claim or loss resulting from transactions at the event.
