Who is this for?

Whether you are new to mentoring or a seasoned practitioner, this workshop is for you. Join us for an afternoon of learning, reflection and practical strategies to enhance your mentoring practice.

Workshop Overview

Mentoring is at the heart of effective teacher development, and every student teacher brings their own strengths, experiences and needs. This professional development session will equip you with the knowledge, strategies and reflective tools to support student teachers more effectively, with a particular focus on:

  • Supporting neurodiverse student teachers
  • Supporting student teachers of colour
  • Supporting student teachers' mental health and wellbeing

You will be introduced to key research and pedagogy in these areas. Through a combination of input, discussion and collaborative reflection, you will have the opportunity to examine your current practice and identify practical strategies to take back to your school.

What you will gain

By the end of this session, you will have:

  • Developed your understanding of current research on inclusive mentoring practices
  • Reflected on your own mentoring approaches in a supportive environment
  • Identified specific, practical strategies to incorporate into your work with student teachers
