About this Event
A fictional nation’s sole survivor tells the story of the brutal holy war that led to its demise. Written in iambic pentameter and evoking the themes of Greek Myth through medieval South Asian aesthetics, this new solo play examines the mental, physical, and spiritual cost of war.
Weep for a land reduced to pulsing embers
A people wracked by war and fickle gods
A bard with tales that only he remembers
A prayer that yet may overcome the odds
I am the final offspring of my race
The sole survivor of great devastation
Though I remain forevermore displaced
I venture to preserve my ravaged nation
Behold: a song of monks, warriors, and masters
Of two young lovers, zealous, fierce, and bold
Whose passion led to glories and disasters
To lingering secrets, anxious to be told
Such history yet may reach some hopeful end
If on it, fellow mortals, you attend
