Join us on October 3rd as we celebrate our 9th Annual Glebe Breakfast, Clinical Presentation, and We Care Auction event! This year's theme is "Change the Narrative, Start the Conversation: Clinical Considerations of Silent Strokes and Risk Assessment for Suicidality" featuring Cheryl Vanderveen, A.R.C.T., B.S.W., M.S.W., RSW.Cheryl has held various Social Work roles, predominantly with a focus on geriatrics. Her employment experience includes work in dementia support and education. She has also provided Psychotherapy in a health care setting for younger adults and adults over 65. Her qualitative research article, published in the Canadian Social Work Journal (2019), highlighted best practices for supporting the frail elderly in rural settings. The administration of Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments was explored.
Cheryl teaches part-time at King’s University College, London, on a contractual basis in the Social Work program. She is currently involved in research and analysis regarding stroke education and suicide prevention.
