About this Event

Can the UK look both to the EU and the USA, or must it choose?

What are the prospects for future relations between the EU and the US, and how would the UK fit into those future relationships?

What are the longer term prospects for UK relations with the EU and the rest of Europe?

These are questions whose answers will shape both the domestic and foreign policy for the UK for many years to come. This conference features leading thinkers and opinion leaders on these themes, with an international perspective. With an opportunity for Q & A, this will be a unique opportunity to take part in this vital debate.

Conference speakers:

Nathalie Tocci, Director of the Istituto Affari Internazionali. Professor of Practice at the John Hopkins University SAIS, Senior Fellow at the Institute for European Policymaking @ Bocconi University (IEP@BU) and independent non-executive director of the multi utility company Acea. She has been Special Advisor to EU High Representatives Federica Mogherini and Josep Borrell. In that capacity, she wrote the European Global Strategy and worked on its implementation.

His books include the highly praised How the War Was Won: Air-Sea Power and Allied Victory in World War II. His PhD was on British and American politics and naval policy. He is one of the most prominent commentators on the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

David Henig, Director of the UK Trade Policy Project at the European Centre for International Political Economy, and is a leading authority on the development of UK Trade Policy post Brexit. He previously worked on trade and investment issues for the UK Government, including on the proposed Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, and on global issues around the US and China. He has also worked in consulting and business development.
