About this Event
Bringing together scientists and philosophers from a wide range of fields to discuss how AI and automation will change materials discovery, and the physical sciences more broadly, in the mid to long term.
- What is 'discovery'? How can we understand this in terms of automated and AI driven laboratories, and computational predictions?
- How will the emergence of AI and automation change the practice of physical sciences?
- What place (if any) will there be for traditional human operated labs in the long term?
- How must the field best adapt to meet the challenges and opportunities presented by AI and automation?
The format will be a two day meeting held at UCL, London on 25-26 June 2024. The workshop will consist of invited talks, panel sessions and open discussions.
