The Fundamentals of Contaminated Land, Water and Waste Laboratory Analysis: A Seminar for Non-Chemists

Join Hazel Davidson and our team for our in-person seminar designed to demystify environmental testing. Perfect for professionals outside the chemistry field, these engaging sessions are part of Element’s commitment to empowering both current and future clients with essential technical knowledge. The seminar will provide information on aspects of analytical testing, and is aimed at consultants, engineers, contractors, and local authority staff. The topics covered include:


  • Introduction to environmental testing services
  • Sampling and sample integrity, deviating samples, and Laboratory Quality Control
  • Sample preparation and Inorganic testing – metals, anions, sulphur, cyanide and leachates
  • Asbestos – background and methods
  • Organic testing – basic overview
  • Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH)
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) – methods, and gas analysis
  • Semi-volatile Organic Compounds (SVOCs) – phenols, PCBs, pesticides, and PAHs
  • PFAS
  • Future of environmental testing


Our team of very experienced chemists will be available to answer any questions during the day.
