The Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District present their signature event—the Frank Waters and Golden Quill Literary Awards Luncheon—a celebration of extraordinary voices in literature, both nationally and here in Colorado Springs.
On Saturday, June 6, 2026, gather with fellow readers, writers, and community leaders at the DoubleTree by Hilton to recognize two remarkable authors whose work reflects the depth, beauty, and impact of the written word.
This year’s Frank Waters Award recipient, Terry Tempest Williams, is an acclaimed writer whose work explores the intersection of nature, culture, and human responsibility, shaped by the landscapes of the American West.
The Golden Quill Award honors local author Nancy Bentley, whose work as a writer, filmmaker, and educator has enriched the Pikes Peak region and inspired readers of all ages.
More than an awards luncheon, this event is a celebration of ideas and connection—highlighting the role literature plays in shaping how we understand our world and one another.
Now in its third decade, the Literary Awards Luncheon has honored an impressive roster of writers, including Barbara Kingsolver, C. J. Box, and Anne Hillerman.
