About this Event
Many small and medium‑sized businesses feel overwhelmed by marketing. With constant exposure to new platforms, tools and tactics, business owners often end up with fragmented activity, wasted time and money, and results that fall short.
This workshop introduces Marketing Land — a practical, evidence‑based framework designed specifically for SMEs. Instead of focusing on individual tactics, the session helps business owners understand how marketing works as a system, enabling clearer, more confident decision‑making.
Using a simple journey‑based metaphor, the workshop guides participants through how to orient their marketing activity, prioritise effort and reduce unnecessary complexity. The session is informal, practical and interactive, cutting through jargon to make marketing easier to understand and manage.
Key takeaways include:
- A clear framework to understand marketing beyond isolated tactics and platforms
- How to prioritise effort and avoid reacting to every new trend or tool
- Increased confidence in managing suppliers, budgets and marketing decisions
- A clearer sense of what is working, what isn’t, and what to focus on next
This workshop is non‑promotional and focuses on providing clarity rather than a list of tactics, equipping business owners to make better marketing decisions long after the session ends.
Event Presenters
Matt Dillon – Founder, Marketing Land
Matt has more than 30 years’ experience working with small and medium‑sized businesses, including agency roles and running his own agency. He developed the Marketing Land framework — a practical system grounded in evidence‑based marketing theory.
The framework has been used by hundreds of businesses, including global brands, to align teams and guide marketing activity. Elements of Marketing Land have also been incorporated into the closing module of Mark Ritson’s Mini MBA, providing a practical way to apply core principles.
Matt specialises in adapting proven marketing thinking for SMEs, where limited resources, tactical overload and untrained marketing capability often lead to confusion and wasted spend. His sessions are informal, interactive and focused on building clarity and confidence rather than selling tools or tactics.
