Let me introduce you to the Flower Shop.
A concept. A movement. A sober dance party for the gentle rebels. The strong yet playful.
About this Event

Coming to life from seed, this sober daytime dance party is ready to blossom with you!

The Flower Shop is a dance gathering designed by and for women, trans, and non-binary beings.

Born out of a desire to reclaim dance experiences and sober party events that center women, trans, and non-binary people to create a safer, freer dance experience. When we say sober, we mean alive with breath, presence, play, and dance -> where it’s cool to be a human, as you are. Because, around here, we like options, and we are adding this one to the roster of things you can choose to do.

May this gathering bring warmth, steady like the sun, even on rainy days.

May it bring play to life with childlike wonderment.

And sophisticated whimsy like Connor Storie on the runway.

We want the Flower Shop to feel like eating strawberries while strutting through a field of lavender.

Each month will be a different flower theme.

To kick off the very first Flower Shop party, we have our local and nourishing CAMAS FLOWER> The theme of the camas flower is: Community & Renewal. The importance of being sustained together in community. The Camas flower is a deeply significant, sacred food source for Pacific Northwest Indigenous peoples. The name is derived from the Nez Perce word for "sweet," reflecting the taste of the bulbs after they are roasted, and they signify the arrival of spring.

When I see the camas flowers blooming each spring in míqәn (Beacon Hill Park), I feel hope. This feels like “we made it here again”.

We suggest taking a self-guided tour through the camas fields before arriving at the Flower Shop. We will donate a portion of our funds to local indigenous food sovereignty organizations.

This is more than just dance and community; it’s a movement.

A movement towards joy and heart-led connection.A movement towards mindful living and attunement.

A place to play without needing it to be late at night or in altered states. Because again, we love options.

A place where parents can bring their kids, but where adults without kids will also feel good about the avant-garden flavor of adult party vibe.

Where the single and ready to mingle crew, the new to town looking for friends crew, the grandparents who never stopped discovering life, and the rave parents all share time and space on the dancefloor.

For a collective cause. The human experience. Living fully awake. In its full spectrum of emotions and experiences, grounded by the roots of love and play.

The Flower Shop longs to be the bridge for a gap. To play and dance in a silly and creative environment that centers on connection and brings playful adult fun to the light of day!  We hope this becomes a monthly ongoing occasion.

DJ EFREVESCENT will be serenading us with their talent and artistic ways. Be ready to dance!

Tarea will guide you through some playful and somatic opening prompts to get you warmed up and connected to the space.

There will be a non-alcoholic elixir bar with fun homemade beverages for purchase and other fun surprises.
This event welcomes all ages. We just ask that kids over 12 please follow the focus on women, trans, and non-binary beings. Kids under 12 are all welcome (boys included).

Kids under 5 come for free.

*Please refrain from wearing strong scents, as many people are sensitive or allergic

**There will be designated cell phone-free and talking-free areas to encourage presence and dance. There will be a photographer, which means you will have photos to remember the event in a meaningful way and share on social media later to help promote the event. There will also be designated cell-phone and talk areas.

***The space is intentionally created away from cis male social dynamics to support comfort, openness, and safer dance for women, trans, and non-binary people.

We recognize that gender is diverse and complex. We ask folks to join this space in the spirit it’s intended and to consider whether this environment aligns with their lived experience when deciding to attend. We wish for this to be built not just by us but by all who attend, and that the ethos of the event will create itself and establish a safer dance floor for this community over time, with the help of all who come.

See you on the dancefloor!
