About this Event
Join us on May 4th, 2024, for a family-friendly environmental event at McKay Bay Nature Park in Tampa! Spanning 38 acres alongside McKay Bay, this park is crucial for seagrass and marine life in Tampa Bay. We'll be hosting a cleanup and invasive vegetation removal day to protect this vital ecosystem.
Before the event we welcome you to enjoy a complementary light breakfast and visit the eco village to interact with different environmental and community groups, including Learn & Serve Tampa Inc., Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful, Dr. Kiran C. Patel High School, Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots, The Mission Continues and many more!
The event will focus on cleaning up the park, particularly the 1.25-mile paved multi-use trail and the 0.5-mile nature trail. We'll also be partnering with the City of Tampa’s Green Team and The City of Tampa's Parks & Recreation Department to remove invasive vegetation.
Additionally, staff from The Florida Aquarium will provide an educational presentation highlighting the importance of conservation, with a special emphasis on the AZA SAFE species program. Species like The North American Songbird, Monarchs, Sea Turtles, and Sharks & Rays will benefit from our efforts.
Don't miss this opportunity to make a difference for our environment and learn more about local conservation efforts. See you at McKay Bay Nature Park!
