About this Event
The Exponential Festival presents Creature/Comfort by Mann & Materials
It's a hot historical romance unlike any other: a mad scientist and his devoted assistant, their collection of monstrous experiments, and the FBI hot on their trail. Created by drag duo Mann & Materials, this campy synth-pop musical reminds us that monsters can’t be stopped, but they can be loved.
Director: Benita de Wit
Sound Production and Design: Aine Brown

Producer: Henry Lang
It's 1953, and Dr. Bartholomew Bright and his faithful assistant Kevin have one goal: to make the perfect monster. But with the FBI closing in, will their experiments succeed? Or will they be caught before Kevin has the chance to confess that his feelings for Dr. Bright are more than just scientific? Created by drag duo Mann & Materials, this campy musical comedy asks just how much we’ll transform for love. Featuring an original synth-pop score, fantastical monstrous puppets, and homosexual awakenings, Creature/Comfort invites its audience to find (and lovingly embrace) the monster within.
