About this Event

The T.T. and W.F. Chao Distinguished Buddhist Lecture Series at MIT is hosting a special public-facing symposium, The Environment and Ecological Crises: Buddhist Perspectives in Dialogue. This academic symposium will feature leading scholars whose work engages with questions of environment, ecology, and climate change in relation to Buddhist thought, with a focus on Asia. The program will also incorporate the perspectives of practitioners of Buddhism, generating dialogue between academia and the broader Buddhist community.

On Friday, April 24, Professor Tristan Brown, MIT History, will deliver an opening keynote.

On Saturday, April 25, the program will feature three panel discussions and a closing keynote by the Venerable Miao Guang of Fo Guang Shan Institute of Humanistic Buddhism, Taiwan.

Free and open to the public. Registration required.

The deadline to register is April 17, 2026 at 11:59PM EDT.
