About this Event
CAST visiting artists, Woolmark Prize-winning designer Suket Dhir and illustrator Cheyenne Olivier, provide a guided tour through Flying Fingers, an exhibition of artifacts developed while turning original artworks into wearable designs.
For the last 4 years, the artists have been working with MIT Professor Abhijit Banerjee and cinematographer Ranu Ghosh to conceptualize and create original woven artworks in jamdani and a collection of wearables designed by Dhir. The workshop will highlight the practicalities of going from visual ideas to an overall aesthetic, to a line of designer clothing. Working with weavers Habibul Mallick, Selina Mallick, and entrepreneur Raghunath Sinha to create what is both practical and beautiful. The exhibit includes original drawings, prototypes, and weaves based on design pieces created by MIT students and a new line of clothing that is being shown for the first time.
Hosted by Professor Abhijit Banerjee, Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics
Exhibition hours are 12p-3p with guided tours at 12:15p and 1:30p lasting 45 minutes. Buffet luncheon served starting at 12p.
