This presentation will explore changes in how the body is viewed and experienced, and the phenomenon of embodiment in clinical situations.
About this Event

This presentation will explore changes in how the body is viewed and experienced, and how we approach the phenomenon of embodiment in clinical situations. The traditional way the body has been considered in psychoanalysis will be compared with newer conceptions of the importance of embodiment in self-development and clinical encounters. Certain ideas about the increasing prevalence of somatic and dissociative disorders will be explored in the context of the heightened impact of technology and social atomization on the way bodies are experienced and inhabited.
