The City of Billings Human Relations Commission (HRC) will sponsor a community conversation on The Dignity Index on Wednesday, March 25 at 5pm at the Billings Public Library in the Community Room(510 N. Broadway). The event will be hosted by Danny Choriki, former Billings City Council member and Billings resident.This community conversation will focus on The Dignity Index, a national initiative designed to measure and improve the quality of public discourse. The Dignity Index uses an eight-point scale to evaluate language based on whether it reflects contempt or dignity, encouraging individuals and communities to move toward communication that honors the inherent worth of every person. The framework is used across the country to foster more constructive dialogue and reduce polarization.
By hosting this event, the Human Relations Commission aims to provide a welcoming space for residents to learn about The Dignity Index, reflect on how language shapes community relationships, and explore practical ways to engage in more respectful conversations, especially when discussing challenging or divisive issues.
The event is free and open to the public. All community members are encouraged to attend and participate.
