DementiAbility aims to change the face of dementia from one of loss – to one that focuses on enabling abilities and empowering each person living with dementia to be the best they can be. Our goal is to enable individuals in enabled environments, through education, changing practice and the implementation of diverse resources.

With a focus on evidence-based, person-centred care, this workshop will introduce you to: easy-to-use tools and techniques; new ways of thinking about dementia; and opportunities to put these methods into practice. You will:
-Discover how to unravel the relationship that exists between the brain , a person’s life story, environments and behaviour (also referred to as Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia).
-Learn how to identify, expose and enable abilities, nurture connections, enhance function, facilitate engagement in meaningful roles, tasks and activities and set individuals and environments up for success.
-Explore new ways of thinking about dementia - and newways of responding to the needs of those in your care.
Participants will receive a 165-page colour workbook, which includes exercises to complete during the workshop, tools that can be put into practice immediately and much, much more.

Gail Elliot, Gerontologist & Dementia Specialist
This workshop was developed by Gail Elliot, Gerontologist, Dementia Specialist, Author, Educator and Founder of DementiAbility Enterprises Inc. Gail is a trusted international expert in dementia care. She educates with depth, breadth and passion, and since launching DementiAbility Enterprises in 2012, she has been teaching and speaking at conferences across Canada and around the globe.
Co-Facilitators
Penny Johns & Tamer Ali, Dementia Practitioners, are DementiAbility Certified Trainers at Jewish Care in England. They will share their experiences related to putting the DementiAbility Methods into practice at Jewish Care and co- facilitate throughout the workshop.
