About this Event

Join us for an interactive workshop, led by InStart Group GmbH leaders Markus Christians and Enrico Engels, kindly hosted by A&L Goodbody LLP.

Modern software products increasingly rely on Open-Source Software (OSS), third-party frameworks, and complex software supply chains. At the same time, regulations such as the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) introduce new expectations regarding transparency, traceability, auditability, and secure product development. This enables EU market access for organisations.

This interactive workshop explores how organisations can gain better control over their software components and dependencies not only from a security perspective, but also regarding compliance, governance, and long-term maintainability.

The workshop connects practical challenges around OSS, SBOMs, Security by Design, and Data Protection by Design and by Default with real-world development and compliance processes. Instead of focusing on tools or product presentations, the session emphasizes practical approaches, discussion, and experience sharing.

Participants will explore:

- Why software transparency becomes a business and compliance requirement

- Why SBOMs and scans alone are often insufficient

- How curated OSS knowledge improves decision-making

- What Security by Design and Data Protection by Design and by Default mean in practice

- How organisations can establish structured and auditable OSS processes

The workshop is aimed at organisations developing, placing products on the EU market, or operating products with digital elements and related digital services particularly in environments that rely heavily on Open-Source Software, third-party components, and complex software supply chains.

Relevant participant groups include:

- Product Owners and Product Managers

- Software Architects

- CISOs / Information Security Officers

- Compliance and GRC professionals

- Organisations operating in industrial environments, critical infrastructure, cloud services, cybersecurity, and digital product development
