Cru Beaujolais is one of the most misunderstood wine categories out there. Distinctive, almost always ageworthy, and yet so much more accessible than its vastly more expensive Burgundian kin to the north. Always the subject of comparison, like we just did to Burgundy, when it ought to be recognised on its own merit; and forever dragged down by the image of Beaujolais Nouveau.
We urge you to give it another shot. We will be highlighting 5 out of the 10 total Crus (delineated growing areas), and showing some real standout producers.
