How do you make text for a picture book shine? What are the essential elements for success? In this hands-on workshop, children’s author and editor Sue Whiting will guide aspiring picture book writers through a workshop covering inspiration, creativity and information about the craft of writing picture books.
Sue Whiting is an award-winning children’s and YA author and editor and former teacher who has worked in publishing for 25+ years. Sue was senior commissioning editor and publishing manager for Walker Books Australia for many years before leaving in 2016 to concentrate on her writing. Sue writes for many age groups, from picture books through to YA, including the bestselling novels Missing and The Book of Chance, and the popular Pearly and Pig series. Her latest books include Sidney of Sydney, illustrated by Liz Anelli, and the crime mystery novel for readers 10+ Promises and Other Lies. Promises and Other Lies and Sidney of Sydney were both chosen as 2026 CBCA Notable Books. Sue is a passionate advocate for reading for pleasure and loves enthusing kids about books and reading.
