About this Event
The "Week of Italian Cuisine in the World" (9th Edition) is an annual event organized and coordinated by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) to promote Italian cuisine and agri-food products globally. This initiative involves cultural institutions, businesses, and the academic-scientific community, emphasizing the central role that cuisine plays in Italian culture. This year's event will highlight the importance of the cold chain in preserving the freshness and quality of food.
Italy is a global leader in the cold chain sector, ensuring food quality and safety throughout the supply chain, from producer to consumer, through continuous investment in research and development. The country is also committed to reducing environmental impact and optimizing logistics by implementing innovative solutions that enhance energy efficiency and sustainability in preservation and transportation practices.
Vietnam has set ambitious economic development goals, aiming for resilient and eco-sustainable growth to become a high-income country by 2045. However, Vietnam faces significant challenges in its cold chain system, which is crucial for reducing food loss, currently estimated at 50% of local agricultural products. The main obstacles include a lack of adequate storage facilities and refrigeration capacity, insufficient transportation infrastructure, and variability in climatic conditions.
This workshop provides a platform for Italy and Vietnam to explore partnerships and share best practices. Italy’s expertise in cold chain technologies could offer solutions to help Vietnam develop an efficient and sustainable cold chain system.
