The conniving Sallie and Barnaby, children of famous artist Julian Sklar (Ian McKellen), hire Lori Butler (Michaela Coel), a working artist and fan of their father's work, to complete a series of famously unfinished canvases—The Christophers—so they'll have an inheritance when he dies. As the scheme evolves and Lori and Julian's relationship develops, the cracks in the grift begin to show threatening their developing friendship and the already flimsy familial bonds of the children who see only dollar signs in their aging father.
