Meeting at 9.15am for a 9.30am prompt start at The Selsey Arms, West Dean we will be walking to Chichester on the Centurion Way and then walking on to the Cathedral to catch the 60 Bus back to West Dean to the start with the option of then walking down to the new part of the Centurion Way in Singleton to make an additional walk if the interest is there. The Centurion Way is a 5.5 mile (9km) path that runs between Chichester, Lavant and West Dean following the old dismantled Chichester to Midhurst railway line, which closed in 1991. The name Centurion Way is based on the fact that the path crosses the course of a Roman road. Eye catching sculptures relating to aspects of local history have been provided along the route.
The route is mostly flat or slightly hilly. The southern section is tarmacked to the north of Lavant. Lavant to West Dean is compacted stone. At West Dean, there are steps with a cycle ramp which is suitable for most wheelchairs and pushchairs.
Dogs are welcome and a £2 donation towards our charity of the month. You will need to purchase a bus ticket for the return journey to West Dean and the buses run approx every 20 minutes so there may be a wait at the Cathedral until the next available bus.
As before you are responsible for your own health and safety and fully responsible for your dog.
