About this Event
This workshop is part of a series of seminars which explore techniques used in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), an evidence-based, emotion-focused, accelerated form of dynamic psychotherapy.
ISTDP emphasises the somatic experience of emotions in the here and now; monitoring unconscious signalling of anxiety in the body; and developing an active approach to maladaptive defence mechanisms. The focus is on the root causes of symptoms, in particular early attachment trauma and difficulties in emotional processing.
The Central Dynamic Sequence (CDS) is a sequence of interventions to access the unconscious effectively within each psychotherapy session. The focus of this lecture is on the technique of pressure interventions, which are an important part of the sequence, as well as the related element of ego restructuring.
This lecture will dive in depth into the triangle of conflict and how this is related to therapist choices and interventions in session.
This is a live, interactive seminar and places are limited so that there will be opportunity for questions and discussion.
The seminar is suitable for clinicians new to Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) or in the early phases of learning. More experienced clinicians wanting a refresher are also welcome!
