THE CANUM – A 40 MILE ADVENTURE ALONG A WONDERFUL WELSH WATERWAY, FOLLOWING THE MONMOUTHSHIRE & BRECON CANAL.Join us for a majestic 40 mile ultra marathon along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal. This beautiful and peaceful waterway follows the line of the lovely Usk Valley through the Brecon Beacons National Park. Starting at Fourteen Locks, the route follows the ‘Mon and Brec’ all the way to Brecon Walk Way.

The Mon & Brec for short, is a true hidden gem. A haven for wildlife and a favourite with nature-lovers, walkers and cyclists. This peaceful and almost entirely rural waterway is a must-see for adventure-lovers.

The canal passes through a World Heritage Site and the Cefn Flight of fourteen locks has also been recognised as being of international significance, and is on Cadw‘s list of Scheduled Ancient Monuments.
There are lime kilns and old workings from our industrial heritage that can be seen all along its length. You can spot wildlife such as buzzards, red kites, herons and dragonflies.
