About this Event
Rueda is full of innovative winemakers, propelling the region forward while respecting its past. Beth Willard produces her Rueda Top 100 Tim Atkin MW report on the region’s best wines each year and she and Tim have invited their favourite producers to come to London to showcase a brilliant range in one place on 27th April.
“Rueda is a region whose wines deserve a lot more attention for their quality and complexity. Verdejo may be the main grape, but its distinctive soils, varied sub-zones and talented winemakers are the protagonists. With wines that offer both immediate appeal and an enviable ability to age, the DO is one of the most innovative and exciting regions of Spain.” Tim Atkin MW
This tasting will also highlight the aging potential of Rueda. Like other important white wine varieties in Spain – think Albariño, Godello, Viura – Verdejo from Rueda benefits from time in bottle, gaining weight and complexity. And those wines fermented or aged in amphora, concrete or barrel, offer wonderful structure.
Producers continue to experiment in the region, whether exploring traditional Dorado styles of wines, or single vineyard wines from recuperated vineyards. Sauvignon Blanc is also getting more interesting every year and the relatively new category of Gran Vino is producing some of the best wines in the region.
Tim and Beth hope you enjoy their selection of wines at this tasting, the result of Rueda’s talented winemakers’ hard work and passion.
Cheers!
