About this Event

A special medical-themed stand-up comedy showcase featuring comedians who were recently hospitalized, or have jokes related to the theme: Vivek Mahbubani, Steve Lee, Bryan Bentley, Nina McGrath, Lilit Marcus, Ryan Hynek & Jimmy Wong!

-

Vivek Mahbubani is a Hong Kong-bred bilingual stand-up comedian performing in both Cantonese and English. Having been crowned the Funniest Person (in Chinese) in Hong Kong in 2007 followed by his victory in the English category at the Hong Kong International Comedy Competition in 2008, Vivek has had the opportunity to take his sense of humor all over the world including Hong Kong, China, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Australia, Canada and USA.

In 2014, the World Famous Laugh Factory in USA ranked Vivek as one of the top 10 comedians in their Annual Funniest Person in thean World Competition.

In 2015, he was handpicked as one of the comedians to represent Asia’s best in Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s inaugural “Comedy Zone Asia” shows.

In 2016, he was featured in Comedy Central’s first ever “Stand up Asia!” shows. One of Vivek’s passions is reading and his favorite book is Sun Tzu’s Art of War. Oddly, his favorite color is hot pink.

-

Bryan Bentley has been performing stand-up comedy in Hong Kong since 2018. He has sold out multiple headliner shows, is a regular feature at TakeOut Comedy as well as Backstage Comedy, and hosts The Aftermath Open Mic weekly. With a mix of observational comedy about being a self-proclaimed “Boujie Ass Negro” along with a dose of healthy self-reflection, his energetic personality, and unique look always brings a good time.

-

Steve Lee (李世扶) is a disabled stand-up comedian and motivational speaker. Steve’s Stand-Up Comedy has an expanding fan-base on two continents. He is a staple at comedy clubs in L.A., San Francisco, Hong Kong, Shanghai ,Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, and has opened for headliners like Tony Hinchcliffe (K*ll Tony), Tom Rhodes, Tom Cotter, Brad Williams and Brent Weinbach. He is also a winner of the Hong Kong New Cantonese Stand-Up Comedian, a runner-up of the Hong Kong International Comedy Competition, invited to perform at the Burbank Comedy Festivals ‘Best of the Fest’ show, part of the San Francisco SketchFest and was on the World Series of Comedy Final Week in Las Vegas.

His stand-up comedy and motivational speaking is in English, Cantonese or Mandarin.

-

Lilit Marcus is from New York City. She is not an English teacher, she does not work in finance, and she does not like Bali.

-

Ryan Hynek is a Chicago native who’s been yucking it up on the Asia Comedy circuit since 2007. Knowing that comedy won’t pay the rent in his 300 foot ‘deluxe’ apartment in the sky, Ryan works full-time as a secondary school English teacher. He’s the first to admit that he uses his students as guinea pigs for his brand of observational humor and finds success in their puzzled looks. He’s a top three finalist in the Hong Kong International Comedy Festival and has played clubs around the world from Chicago to Hanoi. You can find Ryan poking around the comedy clubs in HK most weekends.

"One of my favorite comedians to watch live. Guaranteed to get people to stay at your cruise ship bar 30 minutes longer." - Turner Sparks
