The overall conflict of World War II lasted from September 1, 1939 to September 2, 1945, with the United States becoming involved on December 8, 1941, after Japan planned a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor the previous day, leading to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt asking for the declaration of war on Japan. On December 11, 1941, Germany and Italy then declared war on the U.S., at which point the U.S. formally entered the European portion of the conflict as well.During this program we will discuss the overall involvement of the United States in the conflict, with a timeline of some key events and battles that eventually brought the war to a close.
This program is free and intended for teens and adults. No registration is required.
