The Awakenings Ensemble @ The Jazz Loft

Tales from the Orient is a musical journey that transcends geographical and cultural boundaries, weaving together traditional Middle Eastern instruments with contemporary jazz arrangements. The Awakenings Ensemble—comprising world-class musicians from Australia, Iran, and Lebanon—creates a sonic dialogue between ancient traditions and modern expression. Led by composer Michael Pignéguy and featuring the distinctive Persian vocals of Esfandiar Shahmir, this ensemble transforms the intimate setting of Blu Jaz Jazz Loft into a space of profound cultural connection.

The performance has graced the stages of Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York and The Esplanade in Singapore. Supported by the Western Australian Government, this is a rare and extraordinary musical experience.
