About this Event
We’ve all had the experience. You’re out at an event, hanging with your friends, or trying to get professional photos. The camera comes up and you have no idea what to do. Does my face look friendly? Does my body look awkward? What do I do with my hands? Then you finally see the photo. There’s nothing wrong with it per se, but it just doesn’t feel like… you. You like the way you look in the mirror before you go out, but it seems like that version of you, the real you, is nearly impossible to translate into pictures. Maybe you've convinced yourself you're "just awkward” or “don’t photograph well,” but what you’re really dealing with is a lack of guidance.
With modern technology and social media, being photographed and looking good in photos is kind of expected of everyone. But there’s no class, and really no roadmap for how you’re supposed to suddenly look effortless and chic in every shot. And how are you supposed to learn without being deemed as "vain" or "self-centered"? We’re told it "shouldn’t matter" how we look, while at the same time feeling judged when we don’t look our best.
So most of us don’t give ourselves the time or permission to figure out what actually works. We assume it’s “not important,” and the cycle continues to negatively impact our self-image. But it is important. A photo you love can make your day, boost your confidence, and preserve the memory of some of the best moments of your life, instead of overshadowing those memories with self-criticism.
So it's time for a change. Join Ashlyn Sparks, professional model, influencer, and experienced posing coach, for a workshop designed to help you feel more comfortable in your body and see the camera as a tool, not a threat. You’ll learn how to express what you’re actually feeling through your face and body, and how to stop fearing the camera and start feeling at ease in front of it.
With just a few simple, practical techniques, Ashlyn will start you on a path toward expressing yourself more naturally and confidently in photos. Because in the 21st century, images are how we communicate. To potential clients, business partners, old friends, and new people who may become meaningful parts of our lives.
No one should feel like they look bad in photos, because you don’t. Learning to feel comfortable and confident in yourself is the first step.
No experience required, just an open heart and an open mind. Please bring a journal, a small mirror, and your phone.
