About this Event
Dosa are iconic South Indian crepes made from a fermented blend of rice and dal — simple ingredients that come together into something deeply satisfying, nourishing, and endlessly versatile. In this semi hands on class, you’ll explore the art and technique of making dosa from scratch, guided by Sapna Punjabi, culinary wellness specialist, registered dietitian, Ayurvedic practitioner, and author of Dal Chawal.
Sapna will walk you through the fundamentals of dosa batter, fermentation, and cooking methods, while weaving in Ayurvedic fundamentals around digestion, balance, and the traditional pairing of rice and lentils. She’ll also share cultural context and practical tips for making dosa part of everyday cooking. Each participant will create their own custom dosa, experimenting with both savory and sweet fillings like berries and chocolate or spinach and cheese.
This class is interactive, flavorful, and approachable — perfect for anyone curious about Indian cooking, fermented foods, Ayurvedic fundamentals, or creative ways to work with rice and dal. You’ll leave with hands on experience, confidence at the stove, and plenty of inspiration to recreate dosa at home, your way.
Local expert-led class. You will be working in a small group. For ages 18 and up.
