Welcome to the DMV's Premiere Music Awards aimed at recognizing DC, MD, and VA area artists & musicians for their artistic works and community impact across our region!

The 35th Annual Wammie Music Awards, presented by The MusicianShip on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Capital Turnaround will be the hottest ticket of the Spring for nearly a thousand engaged artists and music fans who are anticipated to attend. The Awards Show will be hosted by WUSA 9’s Emmy award-winning anchor, Allison Seymour and Darren Hayes, voted #1 Sports Anchor in the DMV. “The Hitmakers Ball” celebrates the DMV region’s rich music legacy and its culture-shaping influence on style, fashion, and community. Hitmakers will be shining at this year’s awards show, who will rule the red carpet?

What to expect at the Awards Show: Starting with a pre-event VIP & General Reception with DJ 24/7, the evening will be dedicated to celebrating the winners and our outstanding music community. The two and a half hours show with music by DJ D-REX will feature a variety of live performances, including featured performances by the iconic Go-Go band EU, Grammy-nominated MuMu Fresh, Latin-Rock sensation Perro Sombra, The Howard University S.H.O.W.T.I.M.E. Marching Band, Rayshun LaMarr from NBC’s The Voice, Country/Americana duet 3 Exits to Memphis, The MusicianShip’s Washington Youth Choir, Hip-Hop Artist Marc2Ray with Trap-Operatic Soprano Alexandria Chrichlow, Guitarist Nessa Dove, Posthumous tribute performers, Soprano Fairouz Foty & Harpist Megan-Joie Coleman, and Strathmore’s Artist in Residence Dominique Bianco.

There will be a special 50th Anniversary of Hip-Hop tribute curated by Beau Young Prince, featuring DC Rap Pioneers, Whistle, and contemporary influencers such as Nonchalant, Uptown X.O., Pinky Killacorn, Innanet James, and DC Dancer LOSO accompanied with music by DJ Reddz who will take the audiences back to the future! New award categories like Best Music Video, Best Youth Artist-Group, Music Trailblazer Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award among other distinguished honors will be bestowed for the first time during this exciting evening. After the Show, step into Saturday night with the Official Wammies After-Party with hosts Steph Lova and P Stew of The Original Live Squad.

  • VIP will get access to an exclusive VIP reception at the press & media mezzanine lounge with free hors d’oeuvres and open bar all evening, in addition to VIP Orchestra seating during the Awards Show. Limited Availability!
  • General Admission ticket holders will get access to preferred seating and a general reception where food and drinks will be available for purchase. GA will have access to the general activation area at the main lobby and foyer with music by DJ 24/7.

Wammie Week will return Tuesday, March 28th through Sunday, April 2nd at various venues across The District. Featuring music industry panels, networking events, and a film screening aimed at highlighting the power of collaboration and creativity within the region and beyond.
