The Link Challenge 2026
Returning for the 5th year, the popular 20-mile Link Challenge connects all of Bury’s historical villages and is mainly on trail paths passing by a series of iconic landmarks, woodland and open meadow - truly showcasing the stunning green spaces around the town.
The route passes through the villages of Nangreaves, Holcombe, Hawkshaw, Affetside, Ainsworth and Greenmount.
This is a non-competitive hike or run challenge where we encourage you to complete the distance with the camaraderie of other like-minded people around you – if you choose so, our friendly guides will be running / hiking the whole route with you to offer a supportive pep talk when required. However, we also won’t be offended if you do want to push on ahead without us. 😊
What's included:
• Finisher Sunnywood neck gaiter
• Regular check points with ample aid station food and drink supplies
• Secure car parking at the start / finish line.
