$5/10Come one and all for a special evening of appreciation for Canberra’s very own Geoff Page! Geoff’s name has been synonymous with the Canberra (and national) poetry scene for decades. He has published 24 collections of poetry (in addition to an array of novels, verse novels, anthologies and biographies), reviewed poetry since the late 1960s and has fostered a love of poetry among generations of Canberra school students. He has curated and run monthly poetry readings continuously in Canberra since the mid-1990s, most recently as part of the That Poetry Thing readings here at Smiths. Geoff’s support and promotion have been of immense support to his fellow poets here in the ACT, who will show their appreciation on May 18 by reading some of Geoff’s best-loved poems from across his career. The night will be a chance to enjoy an eclectic retrospective of Geoff’s poetry, chosen by his friends and poetic colleagues. Geoff might even be allowed the stage to read a few poems of his own selection! MCs Penelope Layland and Kerrie Anne Nelson.
