Thank Friday It's Freestyle (TFIF) - 10th April 2026 [NOT 3rd APRIL! - Sadly the school is shut over Easter]. 8.30pm-1.00am.Morris with Co-DJ Bill Henderson 🙂
TFIF is on the First Friday of every month (except April in 2026, when it will be Fri 10th April due to school being closed over Easter), and designed to be different! Many have said it is 'unique'.
We attract dancers in the Modern Jive/Modern Blues/'Expressive' styles (and increasingly WCS and Alt Tango too), who enjoy dancing to a range of musical genres (rock, lyrical, classical, acoustic, film themes, a bit of Hip-hop, etc etc). No regular 'thump thump' beat, and often complex and challenging tracks.
The majority of tracks during an evening are discovered and played fresh each month, so dancers never get 'same old, same old'. That's part of the attraction.
The people who enjoy TFIF (and return month after month, often travelling long distances!), love the different approach to the music, and its amazing variety. They engage their musicality rather than moves in response, and enter into great connection with their dance partners. The experience can be quite emotional, and can lead to those special 'Wow!' moments on the dance floor.
The venue is HUGE (arguably one of the biggest single room dance areas in the UK), with great, smooth floors. We use a professional quality sound system which brings out the best of all the layers in the music, and high quality, subdued mood lighting (no rapid flashing).

Mix of snacks from about 10.30 pm
Free water available all night, but please bring your own water bottle to save on wastage of plastic cups. You can also bring your own drinks.
Entrance Fee: £13 up to 9.30 pm, then £15 after 9.30 pm. Cash or card. (We try to keep the price down but have to cover our costs coming from the Lake District each month).
2026 DATES
TFIF is on every first Friday of the month during 2026, EXCEPT April. The school is closed for Good Friday so we will be holding TFIF the week after, Fri 10th April 2026.
