About this Event
Child & Family Service Transitional Family Homes (TFH) program is looking for individuals and families on Hawai‘i Island who can provide a short-term, loving, temporary home for youth in our community.
Join the virtual informational session on January 29th at 5 p.m. to learn about the licensing process to become a TFH parent. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers with the TFH team. Are you curious or actively taking steps to become a TFH parent? We would love the opportunity to speak with you!
About the Program:
The Transitional Family Homes (TFH) program provides a comprehensive system of support, a stable, nurturing home, skills training, counseling and clinical services for youth who are unable to live with their own families.
TFH parents can positively impact the lives of youth every day! They offer stability, exemplify healthy family dynamics, instill values, open their homes, and serve as lifelines for youths in need. TFH parents undergo specialized training and can expect to receive the following resources:
• 24/7 phone support and emergency access
• A monthly stipend with additional incentives
• One weekend off each month with respite care provided
• A designated Therapist & Life Skills Specialist for each youth placed in your home
Once you are licensed and trained, the youth placed with you will likely share your home for about 3-9 months. During that time, you will have countless opportunities to nurture the youth’s growth and development in supportive, loving ways and positively impact their life forever. Many of our youth have been successfully reunited with family, enrolled in college, and a large percentage obtain employment and lead independent lives with the skills they learn from us and you. You can be part of a youth’s success story!
